I think the triangular plate that the Speedmaster passenger pegs mount on is ugly. So I took the plates off and screwed the pegs directly to the lower plate mounting hole. I like the looks much better. I did fabricate a small chain guard on the right side that follows the lines of the frame tubes and is underneath the top plate mounting hole. I also filled the left side top hole with a finished bolt.

To align the passengar pegs upright I played with several thicknesses of spacing washers under the pegs. The rear pegs can now also serve as a second footrest for the rider when laying close to the tank at speed or as an alternate foot position on long rides.

I like that idea alot! I am sometimes looking for somewhere else to put my feet and the rear pegs are too far back. I had mentioned to Brent at newspeedmaster of making a new mount that could be used for passenger or driver for alternate position, for now, I'll try out your idea. Thanks

Hi Banjobart & Speedofsound

I purchased my 05 Speedy earlier this year and the first thing i decided to change was the ugly rear footpeg mounting brackets, so i had a pair of custom ones made from polished stainless steel and very happy with how they look. If you want to see them, just PM me with your email address and i can email a pic back to you. They may give you some ideas for thought.
I can't post pics here as i have tried unsuccessfully to do this and it just does'nt work.

Cheers

Robbo

Did it to my Speedmaster about 2 years ago. I used nylon washers.
