With cold weather here does anyone that owns a Bonneville have any recommendations on a power plug install??? I have used Powerlet on other bikes with great success.

I'm getting my Triumph aux power outlet installed at my 500 mile checkup. I'll let you know how it is then.

The Triumph aux power socket is a breeze to fit - about a ten minute job at most. Comprehensive instructions are supplied. It involves removing the tank (easier with little fuel in the tank), locating the provided spur on the wiring loom which is taped to the frame with a plug installed ready. The outlet fits to the carb steady brackets and screws into place easily. If you look at those brackets you will see a pre-drilled hole in the r/hand side (sitting on the bike), it fits there. The kit is complete with the wiring ready to plug in to make the connection. It tucks up nicely under the tank and is not exposed to water etc. A 'Hella' type plug is required (not supplied) to be fitted to any aux kit to be used.

The nice thing about this is it is pre-wired in the bike loom and fuse protected, it sits at a midway point on the bike so it easy to run cables back and forth to supply aux equipment.

Cheers

Jeffg

I purchased a third party electrical outlet. It hooked up in the same spot on the Bonnie that the factory plug hooks up. I chose the BMW style connector (same as the Triumph factory connector) and purchased an adapter so that cigarette lighter style plug will also work (my GPS). The price was less than half of the cost of the Triumph unit. I just searched through my links and cannot find the third party vendor. Maybe someone will chime in and gives us the link.

I just bought the OEM power adapter from my Triumph dealer. Will probably install it tonight. The instructions are very clear. Looks like a very simple thing to do. Cost $30.

I may be a little wet behind the ears on this, but could someone please fill me in on what the power plug is and what it has to do with cold weather starting.

If you want to wear a heated electrical vest during cold weather, or any other temporary electrical accessory, you'll need a place to tap into the Triumph's electrical system. The accessory adapter is similar to a cigarette lighter socket, except it is a "BMW" style socket. It is also a handy place to plug your trickle charger into during long winters.

Thanks all for the response. I am curious as to the part number for the aux Triumph power socket. It sounds like the best way to go since the bike is already wired for the accessory.
