How stupid could I have been today? We had a power outage and what do I do but go out on the bike. Why did I not know that motorists just don’t know what to do when they see a traffic light not working? I think they seem to feel that it means you need to see how quickly you can get through without hitting something. Then I still get a dirty look when I try and negotiate across after waiting for about six motorists to speed through with out even slowing down.

It make me so mad I could just @%!*) *?#!&$ *<!$^$#, I think you know what I mean

It is amazing how aggressively people are driving today. Hardly a day goes bye that when my light turns green that a number of cars are still turning infront of me from the opposite left turn lane and I have to wait or get ran over.

In todays world everybody is in such a hurry all the time. Driving and on the phone or eating and driving and on the phone. You would think that in this day and age we could slow down and enjoy life but it keeps getting worse.

Be carefull out there, everybodys driving with there minds a million miles away.

My two thoughts on safe riding, after 30+ yesr of experience:

1. Always assume that you are invisible.

2. Always assume that everyone not riding a bike is trying to kill you with their stupidity.

Ride safely.

Bill, I don`t even assume that. I`ve had Harley riders and sport bikers pass me IN MY LANE,because of the distance I trail behind cars allowed them to squirt past several cars at once. Good thing I didn`t drift or get pushed by a gust of wind.

Ah, come on Dr! You're assuming they've got an IQ in the first place! Isn't that stretching things a little far?

By the way. When I'm not out riding my bike I'm blocking off all the lanes in my 30 year old Volvo!

My driving instructor always taught me to assume everyone else on the road was a b+@%* idiot. I don't assume that anymore; I've had it confirmed too often as fact!

In California there is not a law preventing two vehicles from occuping the same lane. Think about the pro's/con's of that one.
It's totally legal to pass a bike in the same lane. Is that a social faux paus? I've done it, but I don't do it at such a speed that I scare the other rider.
In California is't also OK to split lanes in traffic. To spli a land or not split a lane. That is the question.

Splitting lanes is not strictly illegal here Steve. However, if the rider gets knocked off while doing so the courts will lay more than 80% of the blame on the motorcyclist! There have been stories in the press of bikers suffering appalling injuries due to car drivers pulling across their path and the poor hapless rider receiving no compensation!

We all filter, but it's a risk; and the courts are not on our side - they see us as a bunch of maniacs; not helped by some emulating Valentino Rossi while passing between cars!

Sorry Bigsteve,You're wrong! Two vehicles can't legally occupy the same lane in California...lane splitting is tolerated on freeways(at your own risk!)At a stop light bikes are not allowed to go to the head of the line...legally.Pass me in my lane at your risk...
