Vehicles are much more expensive over there. Especially luxury cars. One of my work associates who was English and ran the whole European Operations for EMI (who I used to work for) came over to the states in the early nineties. I gave him a ride in a brand new Porsche 968.
He was completely shocked that I would be able to afford such a car which I think in the UK was selling for something like $60K.
But typically they give you car allowances over there so your vehicles are all paid out of the company till. And not just the salesmen who need to drive. Basically many mid level managers get company vehicles. Because I worked for an English company I even had a $450 per month car allowance and did not need to buy my own insurance. The company insurance covered the car.

It is expensive, but money machines make getting the right amount of cash real easy.
You also have to love the "no-tipping" practice. That was a welcome change.
One year we spent time in London (stayed in Paddington), and then another year we spent time in Edinburgh (my wife was studying there a semester). Both places were awesome, Edinburgh has fantastic fish and chips, and I'm a huge fan of good beer.
