I "fixed" mine so they no longer break although it was a little rube goldberg... I rewired the socket, and then when I installed the socket into the housing I filled around the base of the wires and socket with silicone RTV. Since doing that I haven't had an issue.

While I am glad that you have found a solution, I'm pretty disapppointed that BC continues to sell these things. Additionally, I am too busy to spend my weekend re-engineering (OK- I am just too lazy/inept) the component. Glad that most of you have the time/skills/motivation, but should we really be doing that?

Keeping an eye out for a replacement that I can swap in. I also have this thing installed, and have some misgivings about using an LED light with it, since it will need a load equalizer.

If anyone is interested, I gave up and just had my dealer install these things. They look pretty good, and so far they work well. Amber/Clear looked best.

That's areal bummer to hear about the BC signals. I am dying to get rid of the stock signals and I am having a hard time deciding what to go with.

I've decided to go with the Maund FEK kit that will include the front and rear signals.

Doug,

I, too, have gone through multiple housings with the same tab failure on the bulb socket that you've experienced. I currently only have a left front and right rear signal going. Over the past 4 years I've probably bought 10 of these little monsters.

I'll try the silicone fix you came up with. My field repair on these is to wrap the bulb holder with a piece of safety wire & secure it to the housing with the tab screw. Gets the signal working/extends the time it takes for the bulb to rattle itself to death.

Regards,

--Rich
