Well, I was hoping to post a good bikerider party story this morning, but the festivities got cut a little short when I crashed at an intersection just before midnight Saturday. I had just cleared the intersection when the cager in front of me stopped fast and hard. I laid both brakes on and tried to cut to the right. Lost control and bike went down with me skidding about 15 feet away from it. When I came to I was face down in a puddle of blood. Tried to get up but couldn't use right arm. Reached up to feel face with left hand and what was left of the left glove was covered with blood also. Pretty soon bystanders and cops were all about and I convinced them to stand the bike back up and push it into a parking lot. Knew some of the cops and one of them told me that he would get my buddy from Zelmo's to get it home for me. Next I was loaded into an ambulance for the trip to the hospital. Several hours later, and after 17 stitches to my face and 7 inside the mouth, and having my dislocated right shoulder reset, I drifted off into a morphine induced sleep. Now typing with one hand and having just popped another pain killer I will now sign off for awhile. My next posting will deal with the damage to my bike and the value of the protective gear I was wearing. Could have been a lot worse!!!! Joe

Very sorry to hear it Joe. All the best - get well soon.
Is this another reason why we all should wear a full-face helmet?

Best Wishes for a fast recovery Joe,
We all feel it a bit when one of us fall. Most if not ALL of us have been there more than once.

Best wishes, man. And glad you were properly attired. Dress for the crash, not for the ride. Heal quickly and enjoy the new bike(s) that the insurer of the idiot in the cage will be buying for you. Don't settle your insurance claim without at least talking to a good attorney first. Remember that insurance claims adjusters have only one goal - to get your signature on a release from as quickly and cheaply as possible. Good luck.
