So I'm transferring to L.A. in Feb. by choice because I am a little bored in Denver and I hate the cold weather due to my motorcycle addiction. For those who live there, (Daz) what should I expect with the motorcycle scene and lousy traffic?

Well, i don't know what you could passibly like aboutit over your present location other than weather. But as the weather goes there, that shopuld be plenty of reason if you love riding all year round. Otherwise just expect horrible traffic i spose. Some nice roads in the hills, but then i'm sure where you are the roads are much nicer.

The "scene" i cant say much because i don't get into that. I'm more of a loner when it comes to bikes. But the little i know is there are plenty of biker hangouts around including the world famous rock store. But like the RS many are full of snobbish bikers there to one up each other's rides. I don't find them perticularly friendly, but thats just MO and YMMV. Then there are the bike runs like the love ride that just took place and the christmas one who's name escapes me. These are for charity more than the bike scene.

All in all it's a pretty nice place to be a biker due to the weather, and plenty of roads to ride, tho often you may have to drive many freeway miles to get to them.

you'll be coming to LA in the rainy season, don't let it get you down, it will be very wet. There alot of great rodes to explore in the mountains surronding the LA basin. Check out http://www.pashnit.com

One of the big things you'll notice about LA is that it is very big, what part of LA are you moving to?

One of my favorite things to do when I lived in L.A. was to ride out to Palm Springs on a hot day, have a few cool ones, and ride back. Great ride, great scenery and good beer.

I ride LA freeways almost daily. Traffic is bad during rush hours. Bikers usually split lanes around here. As always regardless of where you are watch for anything and everything and I personnally choose to ride in an offensive manner, meaning somewhat aggressive. Stay out of blind spots, don't blend in and ride a little faster than traffic.
You'll find the highway speeds around here are rather high, considering the amount of cars on the road. My speed runs around 85 mph most of the time just to keep from getting ran over.
You'll find some great riding around here for sure.
And don't let the posers get you down with their $40,000 bikes. They ususally don't ride them fast or hard. Afraid to get dirt on them. I passed a really nice 40K bike this morning with a raked out front end and fat rear tire. He was doing 40 (at best) when I passed on the end side lane of an tight on ramp at 65. They just can't keep up with a tight running Speedmaster. Man I love the handling of that bike.
