Has anyone used the Easy Bracket Saddlebag mounting system advertised on newspeedmaster's site?
http://www.newspeedmaster.com/html/easy_brackets.html

I was wonder what the word out there is on this system. I am really wanting to purchase a mounting system so I can get some bags for my bike. I have two options: the more traditional one made by belecorse or the easy bracket one advertised by newspeedmaster. Any advice would be very helpful.

thanks!

I have friends that have them on their Harley's and they love them. At the time I wanted to buy some I couldn't find the right one to fit so I made my own mounting system. Click here to see my locking saddle bag mounts. I'm glad to hear they have them now. I certainly would have bought some at the time. There is another brand out there that is really good called Ghost Brackets.

The main advantage of the EasyBracket system over rails is that when the bags are not in use, you don't have the rails to look at on the bike. Only the mounting posts remain. Plus, the bags lock to the posts so they can't be removed unless you have the key.

my next question would be do they work with all kinds of bags or just those that are designed to bolt directly on the bike?

I drilled out the back of my Saddlemen Jumbo Drifter saddle bags. I think you'll have to modify just about any bag you mount no matter if it you use EasyBrackets or not.

Pretty much. All but large bags. But I've seen guys attach plates to the mounting bracket to add surface area so they can use large bags.

Has anyone had any other experience with the Easy Brackets?
They seem like a great solution for bag mounting.

I've had the easy brackets on my Speedmaster since november of '04, can't say enough good things about them. As for the saddlebags, I use the American Eagle Leatherworks saddlebags, just like the ones that Brent shows on his picture advertising the easy brackets. Expensive, but really nice!

I have the EasyBrackets on mine and the only short-coming is the difficulty I have in turning the key to lock them. The clearance between the lockbar and the mounting post is just barely enough, such that I have to turn the key and wiggle the bag a bit to get it to allow the cylinder to rotate fully to the lock position. Other than that I really like them. And as already mentioned, when you don't have the bags mounted the bike looks stock.

Here's another option that I've heard good things about. If Brent sells it, you can bet either option is first class.

I didn't plan to remove my bags, so I just went with brackets and than bolted my Saddleman Large Drifters to each rail. Works well and offered a significant cost savings that I've already spent on other things.... ($50 brackets, $120 bags)
