After getting the new predators, maybe seeing if you can bribe the mods into changing the screen name to "FixedMachine."

Well, my first drop story didn't even involve me. My brother took my bike for a test drive the very same day I got my Bonneville. He comes home two hours later with my left signal in his hand.

I was uh, pretty mad. Taxi stopped short in front of him and he squeezed the front brake. Bike dived a little and when it came to he was off balance and he sort of layed it down slowly (0mph) and once it got to the point of no return... crack. Also scratched my stock mufflers (they'll be replaced) and brake lever got a tiny mark. Otherwise okay!

Although the other day I did come home to my bike on the floor. Somebody must of hit it doing God knows what. Somehow the bike was laying on top of some other dude's bumper with my bar end holding the entire weight of itself. Luckily no damage except to the bar end.

Many moons ago, I was at a big biker hotspot on my Jota. Upon leaving, I jostled through the crowd surrounding my bike, and switched the ignition on. The green neutral lamp lit up brightly, and I nonchalantly pressed the start button. The bike leapt forward, the spring loaded sidestand automatically retracted, and she hit a wall and fell over. Major bummer and mucho embarrassmento. Never trust neutral lamps (especially Italian ones!).

I have never in 20 years of riding forgotten to put.the stand down. However, there is something worse...forgetting to put it up! Nothing like turning left and having your stand dig into the pavement. It wasn't pretty to say the least. I rather like the kick stand kill switch Triumph puts on their bikes. Old SOC Honda 750's could have used them!

Dude, the wife and I pulled into a Holiday Inn in Deming New Mexico middle of December cold, tired and road weary. I stopped the bike made the motion like I was putting down the kickstand but missed the lever that sticks out to catch your heel on. Started leaning and over we went. Wife sprawled out on the ground bike resting on the saddlebags (Cruiser) nice.

Sucks, but it happens.
I remember I just bought an 84 GS750 from friend. I was sitting on the bike, he handed over the keys and I got off to put on center stand. I misjudged and balance got shifted away from me, fell in front of the seller and myself.
That bike was one heavy mofo.
I dropped it within seconds of ownership. Doh!
Total noob move on my part. Thank goodness it was old and beat up already.

Cheer up, as long as nothing broke. Enjoy the ride.

At this point, I've dropped the Bonnie at least 1/2 dozen times- Have certainly taken the 'new' off it! Those stock pipes sure are sturdy!-Th worst was when I had a tip over standing still on a gravel road in the middle of no where. Sidestand got stuck in the 'up' position. Had to use a handy rock to get it down, then needed a bigger rock to bend it sideways to where it didn't scrape every time I made a left turn. Stand is still a bit wonky- but hey- that's called character!

+1 as other have mentioned on setting a routine. My biggest problem after i got off my bike was leaving the key in the ignition/lights on. I did it 3 or 4 times in the first month or two. I started forcing myself to do the same routine every time i got on and off the bike that would keep me from forgetting the key. The main step of course was using the key to shut off the bike rather than the kill switch.

Of course now the problem is that when I deviate from that routine. When the next time i get on and something different happens i have a mini heart attack. The last time i washed her, i had used the kill switch to turn it off. So the next time i turned the ignition on, no lights came on in the dash. I was sure that i had gotten water somewhere it shouldn't have been. It took me a good 90 seconds to realize that the kill switch was off before i was able to calm down.

4 days after buying my TBS, I was walking it out of the garage (on the right side of the bike) not noticing that the kickstand had caught on something and folded back.

I leaned the bike over and realized what had happened, but it was too late.

The bike went down with me on top of it.

Broke the end off the clutch lever.

I called my wife in tears...'I broke my new bike!!"

I've done it twice this year.

First time I was in my work area so like the proverbial tree in the forest - it didn't happen!

Second time I wasn't so lucky. Right downtown at lunch time. To make matters worse, I didn't get it switched off until it started pirouteing on the ground.

First time there was no harm done at all, second time - well, let's just say I'm waiting for a shifter lever to arrive from our future overlords.
