Guys,

I'm planning a 500 mile challenge ride and want to record as much video footage as possible during the ride. I plan to mount a camera on the bike with a second on my helmet. I want to power everything (also switcher, etc) from the bikes on-board 12V supply and wondered if anyone had mounted Triumph's OEM Auxiliary Power Socket and where did you locate it?

many thanks

Gary

It mounts under the tank with access from the right side. You did not say what you ride and the mounting for the Bonny series is slightly different from the TBA/BA/SM series bikes. The Bonny series has an additional mounting bracket and the part #'s are different. There is a plug tucked into the wiring harness for the socket and if memory serves me well the wires are black/purple. I have used it for electric clothing and battery charging. It requires the use of a "BMW" style plug.

The BMW style plug, known as a Powerlet, is smaller than standard, but very nicely done, and waterproof.
Available also at John Deere tractor dealers for about a third the price.

I had this socket fitted as an extra when new. Neat little job really, sits above the carbs under the tank, out of the way.

I had plans for digital movie camera, mobile phone charger or heated gloves power. All perfectly possible, uses that small connector like the Optimate, some say as per model car power connector.
