I called the local dealer to see if he could find one of these for me and it looks like I might just own one. I just have to explain to the wife why I'm spending $11k instead of $6k for a used one.

One of my local Triumph dealers (where I had previously purchased a Scrambler and a Bonneville T100 in 2006) decided he could not take my deposit on his scheduled arriving 110th model, so I took my business to another NC dealer (Ray Price Triumph in Raleigh), paid my $500 deposit, and 6 weeks later took delivery of my bike from them. A few months later I rode over to the first dealer and learned he had kept his shipment of the 110th anniversary bike for himself, still crated up to this day, as his personal investment. And he has a Steve McQueen bike also crated up, with no immediate intention to sell.

That just sounds wrong to me. I'm sure Triumph wouldn't be overly thrilled either. Then again, if he's paying for them, maybe they don't give a monkey's.
