Last year, I rode 66 from Albuquerque to Santa Barbara, taking just over two weeks to complete the road trip. From there, it was Cali 1 north to Monterey...which was another 3 days.
I had a wonderful trip and with every mile a memory. Stopping along the way to meet the folks, photograph the scenes, taking on the history of the road, and bewilderment of the ruins and remaining deco and atomic architecture along the route. There are many side trips that can be made, also.
The stories I heard along the way from days gone by Bonne riders was the most memorable. I was treated to coffee, t-shirts, invitations to stay at private homes, and a litany of others. Be prepared to engage in many conversations about the days of old when you get out there on the Bonne...when they ruled the roads.
Have a wonderful time and document your trip. You'll love it!
