I was wondering what the consensus on waxing is. Do you do it? Does it matter? Do I actually need to do it before storage? Worthwhile brands?

Thanks

I don't treat my bike any differently than my car, so yes I do wax it. Paint is paint. There are tons of brands to choose from out there, most available at your local auto parts store. There is even some stuff made for MC's that are supposed to clean and protect at the same time.

I wax my Thrux after every wash, mainly to get rid of microscratches caused by my jacket when I am hunched over the tank. I use Meguiars ColorX, because I noticed at a recent classic car festival (Wings and Wheels) the classic hot rod guys used it to fix microscratches on their show cars.

Wax gives my bikes the nice new luster that the bike had when I took it off the showroom floor.

I wax it with mother's.....good stuff. My car gets jealous. I use a microfiber rag...no scratches.

I too wax after washing, but I only wash when I get around to it. Yes, I admit it, I've been known to ride a filthy bike around town for a week before washing it.

It's been kind of dirty for over a month now, but because it's been raining almost constantly for the past month, I haven't had a chance to wash it. Maybe this weekend, but I doubt it.

For wax, I use Zaino Bros. Awesome stuff. (And by the way, wax your chrome bits as well, not just the paint.)

Thanks to all who attended!

Do you keep one bullet left for yourself, for when it's all over and done?

I'm lazy....I use that Turtle Wax carwash stuff that supposedly "waxes" while you wash...So far so good, seems to keep it shiny.

I've been using this...pricey but does the job on the black paint. Smells nice too. :hihi:

Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax

for the painted surfaces

And this for the chrome...Meguiars Metal Polish.
