I need to make the air/fuel mixture richer but am unsure how to do this. I know it will be one of the screws on the Carburetor but I am not too sure how to do this on the Speedmaster.

Underneath each carb right near where you see the carb heater wires attach there is a hole with a screw inside. The screws should be about 2 turns out right now. to enrichen it you turn them out more. Most people don't go beyond 4 turns, and most end up around 3 or 3-1/2.

Unfortunatly it's not as easy as inserting a screwdriver into the hole because the screws are "D" screws that require a special tool. You can either buy the $20 tool from newspeedmaster.com, or do what i and many others have done. I made a temporary D tool to remove the screws completely, then used a dremel to grind a slot into them so they could be adjusted with a regular screwdriver. One way to make a D tool is to use a .22 shell and bend one edge in so the opening of the shell is shaped like a D with one side flat. It doesn't fit to well and is a bit of trouble getting them out, but the shell was bigger than the diameter of the D shaped end of the screw. Using a metal tube of some sort a bit smaller than the .22 shell i used would have worked better. in any case, thats the basic idea. If you do use this method, be carful when you remove the screws because there is a tiny washer and tiny rubber O ring on them so don't drop then and lose them. and if you do this a grind a slot into them, a good tool to use to adjust them because of the cramped space under the carbs is one of those screwdriver bits for a power screwdriver. the longer ones that are about and inch and 1/2 long or so. But have one at the ready when you grind the slots so you can check that the bit's blade fits nicly into the slot. Also grind it as deep as you can before hitting the threads of the screw. That will make adjusting the screws much much easier.

Thanks for this info. I think what I will do is take it down to the dealer and let them do it for me until I can get the correct tool. I like to keep every thing the way it should be especially as it’s a new bike. The biggest problem with the local dealer here is he is not a primary British dealer but mostly sells Jap bikes. The Triumph is sort of a add on for him. Then I suppose the demand for these e bikes in my area does not warrant a full time dealer. This also makes the advice I can get from them a bit sparse. Hope he has the tools. One other thing can you suggest a good work shop manual for the Speedmaster?
