i have a stock bonnie and hit the reserve at around 125-130 miles. this is usually riding 2-up, and can't really say we're light-weights. ride mostly around town and country roads. not a lot of freeway.
in the first 500 miles, i was lucky to squeek past 100 miles before i needed the reserve. after that it gradually got better.
I have a 04 T100 and have about 1700 miles on it. On a typical journey, some town and some country riding. i can get about 55 miles to the UK gallon. No mods to the bike and running on unleaded fuel. Mileage tends to increase as the engine runs in and you should be able to get 50 mpg plus or minus 5 mpg depending on how the bike is ridden and the mix of town and country riding.

Fudge, I'm only getting about 32 mpg and it's totally stock. I have not touched the carbs or pipes yet. The bike has 180 miles on it.
Mark,180 miles means your on your second tank of fuel, right? Warming up your bike for short rides around the hood and your MSF practice course in the parking lot are not indicative of real world mileage. Fuel up,ride 25 miles out into anyplace not stop and go,turn around and come back and re-fuel.Probably be .9 to 1.1 gallons to refill. The mileage really does get better with more miles on the clock too.
I have 1400 miles on my '04 Bonneville Black. Ai removed and mixture screws adjusted to best idle. (The number of turns is irrelevant). Otherwise it is stock.
I mostly ride on rural state and county roads (stops every so often on county roads), with a little freeway, and enough miles in my small town to get out of it.
I regularly obtain 48 ~ 50 mpg.
Remember that members posting from anywhere in the Old Empire are probably reporting their consumption in Imperial Gallons which are 1 quart larger than US gallons, so adjust their mpg figures down slightly for US comparison.

Rodburner,
Very close, I just filled (just under 3 gallons) the bike up for the second time yesterday. It probably came in with a half a tank in it, and I put another gallon or so in it after I had it for about a week.
The first time it ran empty I thought something was wrong with the bike. I was like "oh sh*t, I broke it already!" :hammer:
You are probably right about the parking lot driving and around the block riding. So far my longest trip has been about 5 miles.
My 05 T 100 is getting better with each tank full. Last tank 160 miles to reserve...3.5 gallons to fill =45+ mpg.
I'm using the pingle petcock, N H Togas, 115 mains, stock pilots, 3 turns out, AI removed. No city riding, all N. Ga Mountains and ride pretty hard. A little over 3000 miles on the clock.
I just got my Bonne a month ago, I started out in the 35mpg range but now with 850+miles and a 18 tooth sprocket I'm around 45-50. The milage really does improve over time and the 18t is the best cheap mod you can do for your bike.
I got 89 miles out of my first tank(before reserve). That's almost all city driving..I'm glad this is normal because I freaked out a little at first too.Gotta get this baby broken in!
I took a 150 mile ride today, about 80% open road and 20% city. I got exactly 50 mpg; and that included a dyno run. I have an 03 T100 with Thruxton needles, 117.5 mains, 40 pilots, BC Teardrops, airbox intact, snorkel removed, using the paper air filter. On my very first tank, I got 38 mpg. Mileage improves as the engine loosens up.
Once again, the Triumph old-timer Joe Healy from Boston gave a tech hint on bike mileage...from his "Things they don't tell you in the book" tech forum...the number one reason for lower gas mileage is tire pressure...the published tire pressure in the manual is for a 160lbs. person with no accessories, luggage etc...so, if you're pushing up around 200lbs., plus you've got your backpack etc...you should inflate the tires up to near the maximum tire pressure written on the sidewall...hope this helps...BTW I have AI, UNI, 120 mains, 18T sprocket and I get exactly 50 miles to the gallon...I'm 185lbs so I inflate the tires 2 lbs. each over the published spec...
03 T100 , Removable Bags with 30 Lbs of stuff, Tank bag with 5 Lbs of stuff, Stock mufflers with baffles removed and drilled, larger main jets, Snorkel removed, Paper air filter. Bike has 13,000 miles on it. 19T sprocket. Small Triumph summer screen like wind shield.
Just got back from 375 mile ride (all interstate), average highway speed 82 MPH, Highway speed from 70 to 100. Using 91 octane gas.
The miles per gallon on this trip is in line with past trips.
And the MPG was 53. If I keep the speed between 65 and 70 I get almost 60 MPG.
The big change in MPG came when I changed from 17T to 19T and increased the main jets.
I have just over 3300 Miles on my 2005 Bonnie Black and am getting on average 55 Miles to the gallon, she runs great, starts on the first crank of the starter and I have actually gotten (this last weekend) 59 Miles to the gallon, see below for Mods:
Mods: Triumph TORs w 120 Main Jets (3 1/4 turn out), Center Stand, Tach Kit, Clutch Dress Up Kit, AI Removed, Helmet Lock, Luggage Rack w/Hard Luggage, KN Air Filter, SignalMinder Unit, NGK Iridium Plugs, Locking Gas Cap, Oil Temp Gauge, 18T Front Sprocket
