I was wondering what kind of things you all have had to repair on your bikes. If there are similar problems that have occurred and if you had to change something to keep it from breaking over and over again. For me it has been,
1. Rubber speedo cable guide on fender. Replaced with Brent's chrome one.
2. Clutch cable too short, burned the exhaust pipe. Dealer agreed it was to short and replaced it.
3. Clutch release arm seal popped out. Pushed it back in with a pocket knife then took it in on the warranty.
4. Chain adjusters did not line up correctly. Bought a 3/8 inch water hardened steel rod and cut it to 26 1/4 inches to use as a straight edge for lining up the sprockets with each other.
5. Paint in fuel tank chipped. Installed fuel filter.
6. Out put shaft seal leaked due to rust and pitting on the shaft. Polished out the pits on the shaft with dremmel tool and replace the seal.
I have about 4800 miles now and think Triumphs are the best.
What have you done to your's?

Mine is a Bonnie T100, not an America, but heres the repairs its needed: (I'm not counting stuff I did cause I wanted too!!)

1. Speedo cable broke twice, both times about three inches under the gauge. Replaced under warranty.

2. Seat had strange lumps in it, like something came loose under the cover. Replaced under warranty.

3. Improperly seated fuse caused idling problems, not sure which one. That little episode cost me $150 since Triumph apparantl;y doesn't cover rundown time in their warranty!

4. Seat bolt vibrated out and was lost on the highway. Replaced with extended bolts from newbonnie.com.

5. Road debris broke my kickstand switch. Temporarily shorted it out to get home, then replaced it with OEM part. $35.00 or so......

Thats about it, not bad considering that I have close to 12,000 miles on her! These are good bikes!

The one problem so far was the top oil line connector at the oil cooler leaked. It was like that from day one tho just a few very minor spatters here and there. Then at probably 1k miles (i'm now at 3400) it let loose a lot of oil all over the header. Had to remove the copper washers and sand them smooth. No problems since.

Oil leak where line enters crank case...that's all. Was that way when I bought it--fixed under warranty.

Gas tank replaced under warranty due to paint-clogged vent lines. This happened with less than 300 something miles on the clock.

I've had an America and now have a Speedy. Only thing I have fixed is a flat tyre.

Only other work I have had done were modifications, nothing broken.........

Love them. :-D

1. Right mirror fell off the bike at 500 miles. Dealer took care of it.

2. Clutch release arm seal popped out. Pushed it back in then took it in on the warranty.

3. Left side oil cooler line leaked. Dealer replaced all the cooler line washers on both sides under warranty.

9000 miles on my Bonneville, and I haven't had to fix anything. I installed fresh spark plugs last week; does that count?
