I would hate to sound stupid but what is a Hinckley Triumph. I see this referred to with the RAT membership. :???:

Hinkley is where the engine is made.

And where most of the bike is made as well as being put together, I have just come back from the factory visit. People refer to Hinckley to tell the difference between the new and the old factory bikes i.e. Meriden

If you bought it new, it's a Hinkley.

Yip did that, I thought it might go according to engine number or something. I would like to become a member of RAT so would they need any proof that you know of.

They stopped making Triumphs at Meriden over 20 years so unless you've bought some really old stock yours was built in Hinckley! Have a look here if you want to know the history.

It also was a bit of a derogatory slur from the older original Meriden Triumph owners infering that the new John Bloor Hinckley set up were not "real" Triumphs at all.
I don't think that is the case now as new or old Triumph is Triumph and gets respect from all quarters.

And if your Bonnie is a 650, they stopped making it over 30 years ago, so it's a Meriden model. Anything neweer than 1991, like your Speedmaster, was made in Hinckley.

If you had a Triumph from the early part of WWII or before, it would have been made in Coventry.

Another good site for Triumph history is here.

>>>Am I stupid or what

I'd pick "or what". After all, you have several Triumphs.

remember, "Stupid is as stupid does" - Forrest Gumps mama.
