I just (last night) put my bike away for the winter. It was a sad time. Snow is expected tomorrow.
I must now console myself by making beer to get myself thru the winter months.
At least while drinking my beer I can still read about those in warmer parts of the world enjoying their Triumphs.

Its been in the low 30's here, which takes some of the fun out of riding. 6" of snow is predicted for tonight. So, a young man's thoughts turn to modifications, new parts and accessories, and dark beer and good bourbon for the next six months. To our bros in the south - thanks for thinking of us.

Hey Guys,
Can you imagine how I feel, this is my 2nd. year in the cold after living in warm climates since 1977!
My wife is dual US/Canadian, I am US with a perm residency in Canada and we sold our home in Arizona to come back (temporally ) to Ontario.
This is nuts, living in the cold when your sport is motorcycles.
My first year back I went back to my old hobby of being an Audiophile, that seemed to get me through the winter spending money on music along with trips to Europe and Florida.
Last Christmas we were in London and it seemed warm ( 50 ) compared to Toronto.
We are heading off to Ireland this Christmas, I imagine to us it will once again feel balmy, and the people are so great at the pubs all over the UK, we just eat and drink.
Cheer up spring is the next season!!!!
We should all form "The Winter Idle Triumph Gang" , email each other like a support group....
I am on a 12 step program by the way, it is 12 steps to my wine cellar!
:hammer:

At least we have the NHL again, although I am more partial to the college game (Golden Gophers!)
Winter is a double whammy for me, in that I am a major golf-head.
Still can't find the right side bags to hold my clubs. Maybe that's a good winter project, design cycle bags for the avid golfer! Huge market and money! :hammer:

Man, ya'll are making me weep. It was in the 30s here in Texas this morning and I decided not to ride. It will be warmer in a day or two, so I'll be back on it.
Just know that our thoughts are with you (as we ride all winter long).
Come spend the winter in Texas!
:-D

It's supposed to snow here mid-week, but be 50 and partly cloudy again over the weekend. So I don't intend to put the bike away until there's snow on the ground and the temp stays below freezing. I doubt I'll be doing too many more 100-mile-plus rides till April or so, but I intend to get out for shorter rides whenever possible. Longest I went last winter without riding was 6 weeks (but admittedly, it was also a particularly pathetic winter as far as snowfall was concerned).
I know, I'm nuts, but I can't face the prospect of not riding for six months.

I can identify with that. This is my first year back in the snow belt after being in Southern California since 1969. When I lived here before, I still rode in the winter whenever the roads were dry and the temperature was something I could stand. I plan to stick to that plan again. Of course, being 36 years older, the temperature will be more of a factor.
When the snow gets really bad, I have my 17 HP Poulan lawn tractor with a Sears snow plow to put on the front. I don't have Toga's on it yet, but that might be just what it needs.

Count me in the group. For therapy I have bought a ski pass to Mt. Rose. Flat lands of California and the high desert of Nevada high desert only eighty and forty miles away respectively so I may attempt a jail break if we get the right combination of weather during the winter. The 7-8 thousand foot high mountain passes in between are the challenge.
One other thought, a really fast snow mobile?
And with respect to Ice Hockey, go Cornell Big Red. We did not get it done on the Gophers in OT earlier this year but may our paths cross again soon. :-D
