Newbie here. Just want to pre thank everyone for all the great info and kindness to fellow neophytes.
Time to store my bike, here in the soon to be frozen tundra. I am opting for my dealership storage program. Anything special I should be mindful of, questions I should be asking the dealer? Else? Thanks.

Just an observation from my side. I suddenly realized how lucky I am being able to ride all year round not having any extreme weather to worry about. Here is South Africa our midwinter temp will be around low 6 degree Celsius = 42.8 degree Fahrenheit high 18 degree Celsius = 64.4 degree Fahrenheit and in summer low 17 degree Celsius = 62.6 degree Fahrenheit high 32 degree Celsius = 89.6 degree Fahrenheit. You poor people you must get withdrawal symptoms during you winter month. Not to mention @!#%&* cold.

Since I live in California I need not store my bike in the winter but please tell me what is a Dealership Storage Program. I never had to Pickle my bike in Idaho, it was the only transportation I had. 35 below 0 F was cold but it couldn't keep me down and my bike didn't seem to mind either. I don't think I would do that type of riding again. Too dangerous. :-g

They have that here ( dealership stroage program) What they do is take your bike prep it for winter ,, drain the carbs ,,,remove battery,,,lower tire pressure ,,,bla bla through a blanket over it and put them in a secure building ,,then in the spring they pull then out and get them running give you a call to pick it up But jeez i would have to go through therapy if a could not check on my Baby every so often They should have visiting hours that we could go and see them NOOOO thanks i will keep mine in the rec room nice and warm with the dust cover on

Man I feel for you. I have lived in West Virginia for the past 12 years and I have yet to store a bike. There are always a few days each week that I can ride. The cold doesn't stop me but the snow and ice will keep the Bonnie in the garage! Mine is only two weeks old and just over 200 miles but I'm shooting for 500 before the end of October to get the first service then I'll ride whenever I can.
Anyway, welcome and enjoy the ride.

Our Dealer Storage program is ala the response from Nova Scotia. They also offer a reduced hourly charge on labor during the (long ) winter. SO, at least I can gear up on adds (new pipes, fer sure, and other items I am unable to tackle with my own feeble skills, and have them put on and dream about til spring. The shop stays open all year, so I can snow shoe over and at least look at bikes when the need arises.
But, in some respects, it is a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder. With a short riding season, it may be that we ice-landers appreciate the fine days on the road even more than the all-year rounders. But, maybe not. As my dad used to say, "What is, is."

tba-golfer,
I too live in the north country. If there is a way, I would winterize and store it yourself. In your garage (or maybe house if you have an understanding spouse/partner. Mine is great but draws the line at storing it in the family room). That way you can put the old space heater in the garage and sit out there with a warm (or cold) beverage and stare at it. Use the storage fee for parts and such. I am am not that mechanical either, but put on my own pipes last year. Also different mirrors and Dart flyscreen. There are folks on this forum who can answer just about anything you want to know about your bike,as you know. Welcome. :-g
