I have always associated these bikes with older people. I know when I was around 23 and road my Bonnie it was the same thing. People would be quite amazed that this British bike belongs to such a young person.
I was wondering if this is still true for our modern British bikes.
I am 46 and only now have finally got back into them. Is it because I am getting old or is it just the love of the bike that has finally brought me back.
What is the going age of people riding them today?

I would guess an average would be in the mid 40s. At 54 I'm probably toward the top end of the age group. Nostalgia does strange things when it comes to choosing a bike. I've always had a soft spot for Triumph. Life is good in the saddle.

I am 30, been riding street bikes continuously since 17. I have posted this before, but I went to the dealer with a check to buy a 2005 Yammi R1 - I rode out in a Thrux. I also got a 2004 V-Star to satisfy my occasional need for a cruiser.
Wife is 25, and has been riding for 2 years. She went in wanting a 2005 R6, SV650, or GSXR600 - she rode out on a Bonnie Black.
I am glad that we "found" the Modern classics relatively early in our lives. My Thruxton is the only bike I have ever owned that know I am going to keep in my possession indefinitely.

I was going to say that with some maturity comes appreciation of a straight-forward comfortable bike with good ergonomics and sufficient power. However, I think it really boils down to the fact that baby boomers have alot of money and can afford to buy toys that remind them of their youth, especially the more expensive toys that they couldn't afford in their youth. Look at the Miata. As an MGB/TR6 replacement, it's the #1 selling sportscar in history. And yeah, there's one parked next to my Bonnie. :-D
You're never too old to have a good childhood.

I can relate to Binnsy...couldn't afford one in the early 70's and bought Honda's instead. Now I can afford one and I took the plunge. When I get on the Bonnie, age goes away because I feel like I'm 20 again...only much wiser. And like the Bonnie, I consider myself a "classic"... not old.

I'm 48 and have been away from motorcycles for 19 years. I bought a used '04 T100 a couple weeks ago and love it. I wasn't interested in Triumphs when I was younger. The first bike I fell in love with was a '71 Kawasaki 500 that a neighbor owned. He put Bassani pipes on it and man did it sound sweet. I hope to own one of those someday.
I picked the T100 now because I prefer that riding position than the cruiser or sportbike one. There aren't many options out there in what I was looking for.
I always like the look of the Norton Commando. Too bad they don't make those - and I know Norton America is attempting to do that.

:-D I'm 44 and have been riding off and on for about 20 years. In the past I brought cheap beaters or junk yard bikes and rebuild them. Now that I'm a rocket scientist (degree from the Jethro Bodeen School of Engineering with a double major in ciphering and fly cook) I can effort to buy the bikes I want.

31 at the moment. Bought my '02 America from a friend about a year and a half ago when he wanted a T100. I had been riding it for six months already when I bought it, so I decided to make it official. I thought the Bonnies were soooo ugly when I first saw one, and now I would love to have one sitting next to my America! Funny how times change isn't it?
