I keep my 07 T100 at a vacation home in Northern MN, and this weekend we invited my wifes brother (Kevin) and his wife up. Kevin used to be into motorcycles several years ago and was a good rider. So when he asked if he could take my T100 for a ride with his wife I said yes. They got on the bike and he turned the key to on but didn't know there was a kill switch that was off. So he pressed the start a couple of times and of course nothing happened, trying to figure out why it wasn't starting he leaned forward and forgeting he had his cell phone in his pocket, a key was pressed accidently on the phone and a voice said, please give voice command and he was so impressed he said start engine and he said it again a second time louder. The engine didn't start and it took about 30 seconds for him to realize what he was doing after we were all laughing, TRUE STORY
I feel his pain somewhat. A few weeks ago, I put my bike on the trickle charger cause it wouldn't turn over....of course, it was the kill switch. :Not again
I never use the kill switch, i just use the key, have always done that on all my bikes. I had a guy years ago tell me to not use those kill switches because after awhile the contacts get buggered up on em. Just use the key. They originally were meant to only be used as an emergency kill switch.
I told Kevin about this site and he couldn"t believe that over 400 hits on this and we're getting a good laugh... now i would like to buy him a t shirt with voice command Triumph or start engine on it... I will never let him forget this.....
