I recently asked the same question. Prior to posting my quire, I had already "introduced" myself to "BIR" as per an invitation resulting from an email I sent to one of it's "officers." This is what I've learned/concluded:

It's a recently formed world-wide Internet-organized "non-club" Club...... It's "members" are Bonneville & British Bike enthusiasts who feign an appreciation for the eccentric and eclectic. There is an underlying appreciation for Rockabilly music and for the age of innocence that gave us "Hooliganism."

One simply knocks at their door via email, requesting the opportunity to post & participate. When it has been established where you live & ride, you invite yourself to participate in a run, meet some of it's "members", and ultimately seek a sponsor among them.

After you have spent some time posting, riding, and throwing back a Pint or two with 'em, your sponsor puts to vote (via the site) whether your company is worthy of being granted the privilege of a membership number.

It's a site of camaraderie, small talk, inside jokes, and ultimately the desire to do nothing more than ride. At age 51, I think I may be among the median age group. I don't have the right to represent them, as I am not (yet) one of them; but such are my observations thus far...........

It is a good site, and even if you can't meet up with one of them in order to be formally accepted the banter and conversation make for another way to pass time during the day if you're not on your bike.

"FattRat" here, and "RocknRhys" there....

I'm look'n to ride the Napa/Casino run end of this month, and make my way south for the Dam run next month (Jay Leno might already be asking if FattRhys will be there....).

I thought these guys looked interesting, too. From the member list, though, it looks like there isn't really a chapter near here....

They have a really cool website, though. Well worth the time to look around it.....

Don't worry about a "chapter" being near you, I am 150 miles away from the closest other BIR member in Texas.

Actually, that's "real close" in Texas terms...
