Anyone have trouble using the Craftsman motorcycle/ATV lift on their Bonnie or Thruxton (do the pipes get in the way, any obstructions, hard to access the oil filter, etc)?

Thanks!

Short answer - No. You'll have no issues at all. There's ample room underneath to safely accommodate the jack.

We have a jack from Sam's but I'm sure all the 1500lb scissor jacks are made in the same place and just labeled differently.....

I was thinking of doing the scissor jack route myself, but then I thought of doing front and rear wheel stands(you know the kind that racers use) Anyone used these?

I just got this one from Harbor Freight for $59.99 and it fits under the Bonneville fine:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=2792

When I went into the store, there was an even cheaper one on sale for $42.99.

These are made in China and are probably similar to the one from Pep Boys.

No issues at all lifting the Thrux with a Craftsman jack. I line up the rear pad of the jack with the bolt that supports the rear of the head pipe, then I slide it in and pump (sounds naughty, doesn't it?)

You guys are lucky, the best deal on a motorcycle lift that I have been able to find over here is A$399.00. I managed to barter with the guy (Repco Auto Parts) and he came down to A$299.00.

I didn't buy it 'cos I had already seen the prices you guys in the States pay.I checked out PepBoys and they don't sell their unit on line to us.

I will keep looking, perhaps another opportunity for you Brent??

Regards.............Binnsy

Hey there Binnsy,

Can you order stuff from Sears? Here is their website:

Binnzy, you must be talking about an liftl lift that has a platform this is lifted by air or pneumatic pressure to a height that you can work on standing up. I think that what is mentioned in this thread are jacks, which have just a small platform that fits underneath the middle of the frame and you can get under them a bit and can do lots of service. They are about 24" square, with foot-operated hydraulics to raise the bike maybe 24"-30" from the floor.
