Quick question.
I found a very small screw in my back tire today but the tire was holding air perfectly. I figured since the tire was not flat the screw must not have made it to the tube.. Also, it appeard that the screw did not make it as deep as the tread next to it. I slowly removed the screw, no air loss and rode the rest of the afternoon, still no air loss.
Is there anthing I am missing or should worry about?
Thanks..
TC

If my photo album could ever get posted, I would show you a great picture of this screw going in my tire and coming out the side wall. No loss of air on mine either. Lucky are we!!!

I wouldn't rely on "luck"......
Based on what I've learned of late, if it were MY tire I would deflate it completely, squeeze some "Slime" into it, fill it with air, and not exceed 75 mph for the duration of the tire tread's life.
Nothing worst than unsuspected exprises......

The guys at my local shop said if I brought a tire in with "slime" in it they would take me out back...
If the screw did not even make it through the tire to the tube, I think I should be fine. Let's say it did and I had to replace my tube. Would I do anything to the small hole created by the screw???
When you plug a tubeless tire you risk a blowout more based on that new "weak spot" in the tire.
I would think (and have been wrong before) that a tubed tire will not allow such a localized and precise "weak spot" and the tube would spread the pressure evenly on the tire from the inside.
Just my thoughts, opinions welcome.

Shops react hastily to the mere mention of using Slime. It is because our tires use an innertube that their concerns are no longer valid.... no muss, no fuss; the snot is contained in the tube.

If I cannot exceed 75 then I would think I should go ahead and just get a new tire... I am still breaking in (at about 200 miles) but I eventually would like to exceed 75..

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me a couple weeks ago. got home and found a tiny screw in the tire, just barely in there. I slowly "unscrewed" it, and it came out before I got even a full turn with my fingers. Checked the pressure immediately, drove slowly home, checked again, no loss. It's been a little over two weeks now and there has been no loss in pressure whatsoever.
