I picked up brand new Black and White T100 Saturday. AI removed, Norman Hyde Silencers, 115 Main, 42 Pilots. I hit some heavy traffic on the way back from dealer but was able to get in about 100 miles of good break in so far. The pipes are blueing un-evenly. One pipe is blue down to gold about 4" down the other is gold about 4" down. Should I be concerned?? The bike feels teriffic. The Toga pipes sound beautiful, alot of bass and growl. On another thread I was told to balance the carbs for the blueing problem. Is it a problem?? What is balancing the carbs?? I am a little weak mechanically speaking, but I do love to ride and ride. Thanks for the help.

Uneven bluing is the rule rather than the exception IMHO. You have a lot more important things than blue pipes to worry about. Get the break-in miles on and get that first service between 500 and 800 miles--I believe some dealers say to wait till near 1000 miles. After that service, you can decide whether you want to learn to do some of your wrenching or have a pro do it.
Balancing the carbs is adjusting the slides so they are moving together (the amount of slide opening is the same for each carb). This is done with a tool that allows one to measure the vacuum on each carb individually and set the throttle cable accordingly. The slides in these carbs are operated by vacuum.
Ride and enjoy,
Larry

When I first got my T100, one pipe started to blue faster than the other. After a few more miles, they looked the same. I can't be sure if there was a heat issue or not--maybe something else influenced the rate they changed color at that point in time.
A quick-and-dirty way to check balance is to listen to each side and compare the noise level, or feel (carefully--could be hot) the air pressure coming out of the pipes while idling. Otherwise, let the dealer check the sync or buy yourself a gizmo to check it yourself (I just ordered one--not too expensive).

I had the same issue with my bike, I mentioned it at the 500 mile service, the tech balanced the carbs, but said not to worry about it, its normal. He said it could be a lot of things, from slightly uneven thicknesses of the ehaust tubing to wind ci=onditions on the road, and partly due to the difference in mixtures for the carbs. They blued evenly in the end , the slow one caught up.
I personally like the blue pipes, some people don't though.
I wouldn't worry about it, its fine.

I saw a T100 today with the normal bluing on the LH pipe and only bluing at the lower bend on the RH pipe. I believe it's a result of some anti-corrosion oil added at the factory before crating and shipping via sea.
Your jetting sounds correct for an 05.

If you have real concerns pull your spark plugs and see if they look the same. I really doubt you have a major problem there. A lot of things are happening during break in so at least go the 500 miles before making any changes and congratulations on your new bike. :upthumb:

My pipes have uneven blueing too. It's normal to have this, but if you thimk there may be a problem because yours seems extreme, then don't hesitate to bring it in. Although not common, there are cases of improperly tuned carbs making one cylinder hotter.

My bonnie (3000km) has quite a bit of blueing on the left pipe, and only some on the right.Only mod is AI removal, never rode with AI installed.
Checked mixture adjustments and carb balance - both perfect.
Engine runs fine and i believe the right will catch up.
Here's my uneducated theory, feel free to shoot it down mercilessly.
The snorkel is on the left and causes unbalanced air flow to the cylinders, leaning out the left side.

Mine left pipe also MOTOSAYLE seems to have the rite answer My buds Bonne the same The snorkle seems the likely answer I tried all else It makes the most sense The bluing is TRIUMPH! you dont want it to the silencers If you did the AI as I did at birth it wont go that far just a little uneven A little good polish helps even the gold The blus will do its thing As long as it doesnt creep down the pipes (hasnt so far ) its cool part of owning a Triumph! Enjoy the ride- enjoy the unique color as long as it stays in order !! CaptD
