I'm new here, and my dream bike is the Bonneville. I currently ride a Honda Shadow VLX (600). How does the Bonnie compare to Honda? Gas mileage, handling, reliability? Please don't get the wrong idea, I love Triumph, I just need to convince my wife the Bonnie is a great bike. :???:

The bonny probably sucks more fuel than the shadow, and certainly outhandles it. Honda generally cast a long shadow when it comes to reliability, but the bonny seems pretty dependable in its own right.

Go buy the bike and than tell your wife about it. I let my wife pick the furniture and curtains and I pick the motorcycles. Joe :-D

The Bonnie has something that Honda has never had - soul. Buy it.

There is no rational way to convince most women that you need a motorcycle........I always go the "Please, please, please?" route...... :-D  :-D

I surprise my wife with my motorcycle purchases. They don't say much when they know you've had several wives and lots of motorcycles.

Perhaps you're trying to convince yourself.

I have Japanese cameras. I have been riding since 1953 and have yet to even sit on a Japanese bike.

Handling on the Bonneville will be significantly better along with acceleration. You just feel more like you are part of the Bonneville when riding, it's very responsive and predictable but yet very easy and comfortable to ride. In my opinion it's the perfect compromise between a sport bike and a cruiser. Gas mileage is probably close.

The Bonnie is a biker's bike. It's got purity. It's also faster, better handling, and, most importantly to convince your wife, it will handle a passenger better.

I started on a VLX and have ridden numerous Hondas. They aren't bad bikes, but they are just another product alongside their cars, generators, marine engines, lawn mowers, and robots.

I'd guess your VLX will feel rather lackluster once you've tested a Triumph.

I thought the T100 was the coolest thing I ever saw before I bought it...now that I have one, I can't put into words how amazing this machine is.

Japanese bikes just don't have the same vibe.

You will love it...I guarantee it!
