Went for a ride yesterday and got into a little game with a fellow on a 1200 Sporty. Nothing serious we just kept passing each other each trying to stay up front. This went on for a couple of minutes and I was currently at the rear of the duel.
I saw an opportunity coming up and for a bit of fun put my feet on the rear pegs, laid on the tank and opened it up. Needless to say I flew past him and the game ceased.
I pulled up a little while later and the Harley guy pulled up and we had a little chat about the performance or our bikes.
I told him my Speedy was running just great and was a real buzz to ride. He replied " I can see that, I was sitting on 160kph when you last passed me"

Still smiling..........

Team I've gotta tell you, this weekend .......

I met up with a bunch of guys on various bikes including the 1200 Sporty I met in the first post. There was an 1100cc VStar, 1300cc Vulcan and a BMW something?

The guys were giving it a bit every time we came to a straight after coming through the twisties. Every time the Speedy had it over them. At the end of the ride we were sitting around chatting and the Harley rider admitted his bike couldn't keep up with the Triumph. The guy on the VStar agreed he tried to out run me a couple of times but I stuck like S on a B to him.

I wouldn't trade my speedy for anything .........
:-D :-D

Thats basically what i did but with Tpipes and 130's. But then i added a shim to the needles recently. You should try it. gave me another good boost, not as much as snorkel removal but maybe 1/2 that. Really goes now, tho i'd still like to get a bit more out of it. If i can get another performnce boost equivilent to what i got when i pulled the snorkel i'll be right where i've been aiming at.

Daz, when I have some spare cash I intend to get a dyno tune to get the carby's perfect. I can feel that it has still a bit more to give and feel confident that a good man on a dyno tune can eke it out.

'Till then I will have to stick to giving the Harley's a bad time. :-D

There was atime when the sportster was considered to be a fast bike. I believe that was around 1957 or 58. Joe :-D
