Who's had this done? How much should I expect to pay? What's on the check-list?

I know it's valve adjustment but what else. Fork lube? Plugs?

My dealer puts me on hold for way too long and someone else will get on the phone, then they put me on hold. They're too busy selling Triumphs and Guzzi's for the likes of a dumb question. Don't blame 'em. Make room for the '06's.

Thanks in advance.

At 36,000 the schedule is the same as the first 12,000 mile service, if you remember what that consisted of. Or another way to look at it, it's exactly the same thing as the 24,000 mile service but minus the fork oil change.

If you need the detailed list, click this link: Maintenance Schedules to find it in this site's Download section.

Hope that helps.

John,
I think he's talking about the 3rd scheduled service which is at 12,000 miles--not the 36,000 mile service.
Thunder,
I would recommend getting a copy of the items for this maintenance--it's a big one in my opinion. They are supposed to do a lot of checks and replace (renew) a lot of items. It's not just valve check/adjust and oil/filter change.
New air filter, balance carbs, adjust idle using EGA, lube the steering head bearings, and replace fuel hose are among the items listed along with "checking" many other items. Cost should be significant on this one. You will probably have to leave it overnight. The engine should be cool for the valve check/adjustment; and if they do all that's listed, it will take hours. My dealer's mechanic says he requires them to be left overnight for this maintenance.

Yes, the 12,000 has many items to be replaced / serviced. How important is it to do all of these, like flushing the brake fluid every two years, lubing the steering head bearings, and replacing fuel hose?

There are a few maintenance schedules I've seen on the web. This URL has one: www.rideteamtriumph.com/downloads.htm

Basically its a big job and unless you're very confident mechanically, its probably worthwhile having the dealer do a proper once-over.

Thanks for the link Diego.
I'm flattered than you think I have 36k on my '04, but I did mean that it was my 3rd service, not 3 times 12k. We can all do math here as you have rightly proven.
