Anybody know how I can get at the air cleaner on the T100? With everything else I've done to the bike, I am going to put a K&N filter in it so I can clean it and reuse it. Thanks! :???:

I should clarify that I am replacing the stock air cleaner with a drop in replacement. Nothing in the owners manual, but I think its accessible under the battery case. Thanks for any info!

It's under the left side panel held in with 3 screws. While you're at it, you might want to remove the snorkel at the same time (you'll have it in your hand after you take out the 3 screws).
It might take a bit of effort to wiggle the old one out.

Thanks for the help, Shorty. Any issues with removing the oft mentioned "snorkel"?

No, it seems to be one of the preferred "reversible" mods we do in here. If you don't like the way the bike responds, put it back in...less than a 10 min job.
Removal will decrease some of the intake restriction . Note: just pull out the rubber snorkel part because you will need to re-mount the orifice plate with the 3 screws to hold your filter down.
Check in the photo album on the left and look under shop scrapbook. On page 3 the last item are pics someone took of the snorkel assembly.

It's very easy to scratch the paint on the frame bar when removing the stock filter. I would recommend pulling it out a ways to see where it will contact the frame bar and putting tape on the frame bar to protect it before removing the filter. The holey metal cover on the stock air filter is like a cheese grater and it sure like to eat paint. :-D

Regarding scratching the paint on the frame bar when removing the stock filter. I learned this the hard way. I was not happy!

Any suggestions on touching up the paint in this area?

This is a slightly older thread I found while doing a search on "air filter". I decided to check mine yesterday and couldn't get the element out. I got the 3 screws out and had the element in my hand. I just couldn't get it past the frame. I felt like I was going to break something by taking it out, so I put it back. It looked clean and I didn't see any oil in it. Nice design.

It does seem like a tight fit. Mine came out and the K&N installed easily. You just have to lift the filter up a little and awy from the frame bar. Go slowly to avoid the "scratched frame" syndrome.
