I am in the market for a T100 (likely a 2006 as I can't find any good used or 2005's here) I plan on using the bike primarily around town and on short country drives, however, I would also like to take the bike on some 3-4 day trips. How well does the bonnie handle longer trips? Comfort? Gear storage? Any tips/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Be prepared for ALOT of answers. For the use you indicate, you will love the Bonnie, either 790 engine or 865. It is great around town and handles short trips like a champ. I've had mine out on a 10 hour (600 mile) day twice and the bike handled it just fine. Does well on the highway with a small removable deflector screen, runiing 75+ all day long. You're not going to dust any 600 cc crotch rockets, but who cares! You may suprise them in the twisties! BUY THE TRIUMPH!

One of my main riding buddies rides a Honda CBR600RR, and I'm actually faster than he is in the twisties. He'll pull away on the straights, of course, but I'll catch up to him in the curvey sections -- on the rare occasions, that is, that he's riding in front of me.

That CBR600RR is a screamer! Just goes to show ya, its not the size of your engine, its the size of your b----! The Bonnie is going to be much more user friendly for "all round" use than the CBR anyway. You should give him a crack with a new Speed Triple and watch him WEEP!

I took mine for a week and a half camping trip in the Rockies. I bought a big luggage rack and attached my own military breadbags and lots of gear with bungees. I must have looked like a homeless biker. It was awesome, the bikes do real well. Mine's jetted for 5,280ft. (Mile High Denver) but I was at elevations of over 12,000ft at times with no problems. You can count on the Bonnie. I do recommend a battery tender as a means to ensure reliability in the bike. With proper care and maintainance, this baby will last forever.
I think the best part about the bonneville is variety. I have enough parts now to pack enough stuff on for a long haul, or strip it down to the cafe style in town.

Would you guys recommend a luggage rack or a sissy bar to strap gear to?

Thunder hit it right on the head! This is a grat bike and I will keep it forever just for those reasons. I amy get a larger bike for touring next summer, but I will keep the Bonnie when I'm done. It has more character than a whole row of identical hogs parked outside the tavern!

CTF-the the Renntec from newbonneville or the Triumph high back rest. The high backrest is cool because you can take it on/off in minutes and it will also adapt the grab rail. Unfortunately, Triumph does not sell just the grab rail. I have seen any backrest/rack combos yet, but hang in there, somebady will make it.

Or the new Daytona 675. Believe me, I want to!
Of course, he's lusting after a Daytona 675 now too...

I have some TourMaster Sport bags on my T100. I recently went from New Hampshire to Deals Gap and back. Bike was fine. You might have to get used to the stock seat or upgrade.
