I just replaced the round, elbow viewing, mirrors with a pair of Yamaha Virago mirrors (aftermarket mirrors made by Emgo). Attached the mirror heads to the stock stalks. I like them alot! Got the pair on ebay for $30 plus shipping. The advantage is that they are wider, thus the field of vision is greater. Their profile is lower also.

Sounds like a good solution--can you post a photo?

I bought the same mirrors at a Yamaha dealer for about $29.
Great improvement in what you can see going on in back of you. No more elbows !!!
Also, I think they look much better than the Mickey Mouse ears.
As Kirk said, the profile is much lower giving the bike a whole new look.

So the thread at the top of the stalk is compatible? Great. The lower thread isn't, right?

Always great to get ideas on replacement mirrors. Looking forward to seeing pics when you get them. I love the bar ends I got from Bella Corse, but I think I'd like a functioning high mirror when going on longer rides.

I got the ideal of Yamaha mirrors from Badrufus and put them on a couple of months ago. I got mine for about 25 bucks shipped, off of E-Bay. I love them, they fit on the standard stalks, are wider, sleeker, and look a lot better.
