A question to you wise ones.
Ever since I've had my Bonnie (even before the modifications I've done) on start-up after sitting for many hours, the right cylinder takes a few seconds to fire-up. The left starts immediately and after a few cycles the right one will "stutter" into sync and after that...everything is ok. I've always assumed that this is due to the fact that fuel hasn't gotten to that side's carb yet (or drained out of the bowl?) because of the lean angle of the bike on its side stand. Does anyone else experience this because I don't think that I've read any threads in this forum concerning this matter? Thanks in advance for your sought after input.

This has never happened to me. Start with the most likely solution, the spark plug - replace both.

If you turn the fuel off and run the carbs dry each time you park up, you may get this problem due to one carb beeing higher than the other when on the side stand.

If not then replace the plugs as the others said.

And check the gap before replacing it. Maybe it went when new with a bad gap.(service tech drops plus, doesn't re-check gap)

bog_rat...my thinking is like yours since I just put new plugs in less than 1000 miles ago. However, I did order some new iridium plugs from NB just in case and to see if it will make a difference.
dazco...would you happen to know what the spark gap should be off the top of your head?

Shorty,
The plug gap is 0.8--0.9 mm (0.031"--0.035"). If you still have the problem after changing plugs, I would suggest checking out the plug wires next and after that check the coil.

Shorty,

I second what Redbird said about checking the coil. Three folks on the New Triumph Bonneville forum had some problems similar to your and solved it by replacing the coil.

Carl / Larry...thanks for the Heads-up on the coil issue. Any idea what it would cost and where I can get one? Did the other forum mention that this only happens when starting the bike also because mine runs like a SOB once it's warmed up and I have no other problems?
