I only do short journeys, probably 20 to 40 miles, and my T100 only starts to 'feel right' as I am pulling up at home to put it back in the garage! Does it really take that long for the bike to warm up and perform properly?

I would say a lot has to do with what modifications you have performed to the bike. If it's stock, then I would say it would be in its element after about 20 miles. Everything would be fully heated and the stock lean condition will be working most efficiently. It seems to take a while for them to fully warm up.

Also depends on the ambient temperature. On the odd few hot days we've had mine takes about ten minutes before running smooth. Normally twenty minutes or ten miles.
I allow five minutes warm up before setting off. The time it takes to get changed and have a drink of tea.

Arch is spot on, once again. It takes my T100 about eith minutes to warm up. I adjust the choke in as the revs go up during idle. I love carbureted cycles on "sporting" bikes, but when I buy that touring bike next spring, it'll be fuel injected.

Hello everyone:
I am finding mine does not take that long. Three, four minutes and it is fine. And we have had a bunch of cool nights lately down to the low thirties and even high twenties F. Though my garage is at about 40 F. There seem to be other factors here as pointed out such as the modifications, the AI being connected or not etc.. I am also at about 6,000+ feet elevation.
And beware, I left my Bonnie on 1/4 choke while warming up in the garage and went back into the house to get something. Maybe gone two minutes. When I got back the pipes were incredibly hot and blued past the final bend in the header that brings the pipes back to horizontal.
I think Triumph had a great idea to have the new Bonnie have the same blued pipes as the old Bonnies. Thing is, back in 1969, Bonnies did not have air inducted emission controls. The result combined with the non double walled chromed pipes is excessive heat in the pipes at idle very quickly. I now have mega blue headers.

It takes about a half-hour for mine to fully warm up. Until then, my throttle response is pretty lame. It did seem to improve somewhat when I put on TORs, but it still takes a while. I move the enrichner knob in bit by bit until it's warm, usually in 15 to 20 minutes.

WOW! I usually have the choke off and the bike WFO about a half mile from my house, but then I will usually start the bike before I put on my helmet or gloves letting it idle for a couple of minutes.
Lets see, its about 400 feet from the house to the road, then about 500 feet to the first stop, then about 1300 feet to the second stop, then I'm off WFO on a two lane highway - so its less than 1/2 mile.

Wow, I'm actually pretty shocked that you guys are taking so long to warm up. In summer weather, I start the bike on full choke (if it's been sitting long enough to cool off completely), but within 15-30 seconds I push the choke knob in halfway or so and ride off. Throttle response is fine within a quarter mile or so, and I usually push the choke the rest of the way in by the time I've ridden a mile. At that point the bike is running great and feels ready to ride aggressively, although if I pull up to a stop light and take my hand off the throttle, idle speed is still very slow. But by the time I've gone five miles, the bike seems fully warmed up.
In cold weather, it obviously takes a little longer to warm up, but still doesn't take anywhere close to 10 minutes, let alone 20!

My experience is more inline with Mark and Gary's.
Start it up on full choke.
Put on helmet, gloves, goggles, jacket (sometimes), and back-pack.
Roll backwards out of garage.
Ride off
Within seconds of riding off, I push the choke all the way in.
Within four or five minutes (two the three miles), I'm pretty much fully warmed up.

Same here minus the garage part.....I keep mine in a solid gold egg shaped capsule that doubles as a time machine. :-D
