Set out to mod some Bonnie T100 mufflers at the weekend by removing the little peashooter pipe. Did this on a work bench and, luckily, I bought a pair of stock mufflers on ebay. So at least I'm still on the road. (The idea being to retain a legit pair for when the bike needed to pass its MOT noise test.)

First muffler no problem. Second one, drilled out the initial flange with a 1.25 inch hole drill and tapped hard, only to have the entire peashooter pipe, and what looked like the inside metal skin of the last six inches of the muffler, slide backwards an inch or more and stick there.

I've managed to pull the little peashooter pipe forward to where it should be, but the metal inner skin now refuses to move at all and I'm unable to extract all the fibre glass wadding wrapped around the peashooter pipe, largely because one half of the drilled out flange (on the peashooter) is visible and the other half (still attached to the slipped metal inner skin of the main exhaust) is a good inch behind this!

The peashooter pipe will revolve and shift about a quarter of an inch backward and forwards, but that's it... Any suggestions gratefully received.

I had the same problem. I fashioned a hook out of a piece of steel rod with a hook bent in on end of the rod small enough to slip trrough the pipe and catch on the inner end. The rod i used was about 1/4 inch diameter. I did it on the bike . I made the rod long enough to bend an end on it then hit it with the shop hammer and after learning some new words out it popped . If one had a slide hammer puller like ised in the auto business one could hook the rod in it and out it would come. Hope I have been descriptive enough. Ed

thank you for that. I'll have a go at making a hook and shifting the thing with that!

Whats happening is the weld is hanging up on the second baffle. Mine did that too. I pulled out the fiberglass with a pair of needlenose, then drilled the back baffle. The tube came right out.

Hope that helps.
