Do you folks turn your fuelcock to off when you're not riding your bike? I do If I'm not going to ride it for a week. Should I do more often?

I always turn mine off but this may be a hangover from the old days. The old Amal carbies had a tendency to overfill when gravity overcame dodgy needle valves.

Turning it off can't do any harm and may do some good

Lots of folks here do it every time they park. I operate the valve from on to reserve and back,at every fill-up to keep the o-ring lubed, but only turn it off to remove the tank,so 3 times in 7600 miles.

Ah yes, "dodgy needle valves"...my favorite indy rock group!

Of course, there's no reason to believe modern float valves are infallible either, so I turn my petcock on at the start of the day's first ride, and turn it off after the last ride of the day.

That must be a good compromise. So far, I need nothing more than moderate strength glasses.
