I'm looking at the Cortech Tri-bag system with the saddlebags and the tailbag that clips onto them. It seems like a neat system. I know that the Triumph saddlebags come with pannier rails, but the Cortech folks don't mention the need for them. Are the rails only needed for the Triumph bags or should I buy a set of the rails for use with the Cortech bags as well. I know I could buy them & try them, but if I'm gonna have to buy the rails eventually, I might go with the Triumph bags since you have to buy them to get the rails (I think). Any ideas?
Thanks, Mike

Mike, the Triumph rails can be bought as a seperate item over here but they are expensive, $275.00 (Aussie dollars).

I will eventually get a set as my bags rub on the fender and it will soon scuff the paintwork. Also it gives you something to secure the bags to that will stop them flapping about at highway speeds.

I saw that Thunderbike in NZ sell a set for $150.00 plus postage etc, they may be a cheaper option.

I was thinking about making my own in the shape of the Union Jack but am too lazy, ayone want to take it up?

Regards...........Allan

Triumph rails can be purchased alone without the bags. I think for around $142 (US)

Mike;

I have a set of the Cortech Sport Bags myself. All though they are a little on the small size, they work great for me. I do not have the attachable seat bag. The sport bags do not require pannier rails and are very easy to put on and take off. JREAGAN has a post on this site for these bags with very good pictures.
