Until Brent at NewBonneville.com develops a switch to fit in the old "headlight on" switch location on the throttle side control maybe this will do the trick....
Garage door opener

I installed the "Taidan Garage Door Opener" which I bought off e-bay. It's installed in the headlight housing, connected to the highbeam. Very simple to install, just flash the highbeam and door opens. Works great. This was my second attempt. Initially I tried an "EZG door opener" from www.jollytec.com. It didn't work too well for me, sometimes it worked fine, sometimes I had to sit there hitting the button 5-10 times before it worked, sometimes it refused to work at all.

Any thoughts on where to put the unit on the bike? I thought about a handle mounted switch but haven't found a good spot for the unit itself.

NetTech,
If you mean how to get a remote, go to Sears. Take your existing remote from your car, and before going look at the garage door opener and draw a diagram of the various connectors and buttons. Sears have remotes that can be programed to operate your garage door. I bought one that goes on my key chain, but is still bulky at about matchbox size, and I end of sitting in front of the door trying to find the thing through gloves and jeans. I'm thinking about doing the install suggested by Ubergiles and mounting it inside one of the side covers.

badrufus,
I use exactly the same thing. I keep it in my jacket pocket.
When I bought the opener, the Sears sales guy recommended that the smaller key ring remote NOT be attached to the key ring, since you could inadvertly open the garage door, so I had to find a way of keeping it in the car. What I ended up doing was adding a drapery clip, which I could clip to my visor (It worked beautifully!) Now, that I have a new motorcycle, my car no longer lives in the garage and I have wondered if there was a spot I could clip my remote so that a.) I wouldn't lose it and b.) It gives me easier access than fumbling in my pocket. So far, I have not come up with anything.

That is very creative. I was trying to accomplish the same thing, but couldn't figure out how to add the remote button. Pretty simple!
Instead of trying to figure it out, I bought the small keychain remote (Genie). I made a small L-shaped bracket and screwed it to my frame under the tank. I counter-sunk a hole in the bracket and screwed teh keychain opener to the bracket. Now, I just have to reach under the tank to key the opener on arrival or depature. You can't see the remote, but it is easy to feel.
Concerns with my solution are it may get wet and it would be easy to steal if the wrong person saw the remote (hard to see). This persons solution is more weather and theft resistant. I believe I could add that momentary switch to my keychain remove, and mount the whole thing under my tank cover (America) with the momentary switch in the blank hole.
Thanks for posting, I'll let you know how I make out!

New here, hello. That Taidan garage door opener sounds great. I've Googled them up but haven't found a source. What's up with that? Can anyone recommend where to find them? Thanks.

Man you guys will cut butter with a chain saw eeh? :hammer:
I just put my remote in my front jacket pocket. Pull into driveway and press on my pocket, door open. I can also take the remote out and use it in the car, you know, that thing with the four tires and a really huge fairing. :-D

Pat, when you can open up a brand new $30 remote, cut it up, do some soldering, spend hours making it work, why not? <g>
I have a key-pad mounted by the door, just too lazy to get off the bike.
