Washed my bike today and found a shiney place I don`t recall seeing before. Anybody feel like walking to the garage and taking a peek for me?Down near the oil filler plug,on top of the case are 3 bolts of which 2 remain.Could it be a missing wiring tie-down? Thanks,Steve [they are in an array nearest the fill hole.] :???:

Steve, if I'm looking in the right place, the third hole is for a wiring clip. The wires that run down to the sensor in the engine case go through a plastic loop on mine, the loop has a round part that is supposed to fit that hole. Mine is always out, it doesn't stay plugged in properly. Bad design.

Don't sweat it.

This plastic plug/clip fell out of that hole on my Thruxton, so I simply cabled tied the wires together and plugged the hole with a domed-head black rubber plug.

Thanks to all. Will steal some 33 year old technology from my SL175 to make repair.

Okay, newbie twin owner here ... and see that I even searched before asking this

So, is this the extra blind hole, missing bolt boss that we're talking about here. Noticed it while wiping down the new baby and was wondering what the heck is supposed to be here???

RG,

Good research; however, there was another, more recent thread (about a month ago if my memory is correct) that would be more "up-to-date" than this nearly year old thread. If my memory is correct, the later thread brought out the fact that Triumph no longer (beginning with the 2006 models--I believe) routes the wires where this hole is used for a wire tie-down...so, the same hole on your '06 is an unused hole. :-D Again, my memory is kinda old like the rest of me, but I believe I remember reading that the wires are routed to the rear of the engine and under on the '06's.
