Hello I.m a newbie to the board and just got back into the triumph scene after many years away from it. I have a question about tach hook-up. I have an 05 america and am trying to hook up an oem tach, Could someone tell me what color wires are connected with the wire that goes from the igniter to the head light bucket
The instuctions talk about pluging the ends into specific places, but these wire connections already have a wire in them. Thanks

Well not sure if the Bonneville wiring is different then the way they wired the America, but I have an 05 Bonnie and it was completely plug and play all the wiring was wired out to a connector located in the headlight, the instructions tell you that if you have VIN # or later that you just plug it in to the receptacle and you are good to go...

Your "05 America should have the connector harness directly under the tank dashboard. Just match up the plugs from the tach to the empty connector under there.
There was a lack of this additional connector on some earlier model Americas....'02 and '03's I think, but you should be good to go.

By the way...where is Fair Grove?

I put the tach on recently and have the same bike as you and it's "plug and play". The '05 has the harness already wired with the ends waiting for the new tach. Just take off the three screws for the insturment cover plate and lift her up and you'll see the proper connection. You can't plug it into the wrong place. Just pop out the Triumph logo plug and you're in business to simply put the new tach there. Don't freak out if it doesn't line up, you can twist it later.

By the way, the biggest pain in the whole thing is disconnecting the battery lead. If anyone can tell me how to do this easily without taking off the seat, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks all for the input, just could not get the thing to work. Finally figured out it was a bad tach, another is on it's way.
