I've had the idea bouncing around in my head to organize a motorcycle club in my town. My thought is to have a club (not too serious) of "semi-professionals" (meaning not drugged-out dumb ****s) that would meet up at a tavern of considerable character and go for a sunday drive throughout our country-side and stop now and then for a beer and mingle w/ the locals. Anyone out there have the same desire? Any advice on getting it started? Put an ad in the paper? It would be fun to meet riders in the community and buzz all over the country-side. I think it would be a blast! Anyone out there in one?

Gday mate
I am such a club we call it a social club we dont run a back patch, we do have a small patch on the front of our vest(about the size of the RAT patch) that says who we are. We go for rides most weekends, stop at pubs/bars where we have a meal a quiet beer then move on. With 15 members it is a close knit group and everyone knows everyone else.
By the way I am the only enlightened one who rides a triumph most of the bikes are jap cruisers or harleys.
Anyone in Central Victoria (Australia) feel free to drop me a line and come along on a ride we usually only do about 200 - 300 kms a day, not far at all really.
Regards Ron

I for one am bored to tears hangin' out with my HD buddies. Great guys, but they just want to park and drink beer. There's a time & place for that, but just getting on bikes and riding somewhere new... forget about it.

I belong to a couple of riding clubs: The Metro Triumph Riders (MTR) is a Detroit based club, primarily made up of vintage bike riders... but Hinckley bikes are certainly welcomed. We meet once a month for breakfast and almost always there is a ride afterward. They also have special events such as last weekends Mods vs Rockers meet (Ride Photos) with the Rovers scooter club, and the Battle of the Brits bike show which is one of the top meets in the nation.

I'm also a member of the Brit Iron Rebels . They're a riding club placing a high premium on members getting together and riding. It's a worldwide club with local "clans", although most of the members are So Cal based. Unfortunately, I only have one other member here locally and family obligations keeps him from riding as much as I'd like. A few of us got together at Mid-Ohio and Deal's Gap and had a great time.(BIR Web Site )

Hi

I, too, have thought about starting some sort of Triumph/British crusier (new and classic) riding club. Any bike would be welcome of course but let's face it, riding with people who have the same interest in bikes is a little more interresting.

I'm a little hesitant about trying to form a riding club based on the lack of interest I've experienced with local Triumph Bonneville owners. I joined this list Dec. 2004 and got an 05 T100 April 2005. Over the past winter I established e mail contact with 4 local Bonneville riders all of whom "said" they were anxious to meet up and ride starting this past Spring. Unfortunately, none of these riders have shown any real interest in meeting up to ride. I've put over 2500 miles on the T100 (love it) but most have been with my 4 Harley friends who ride a lot more than they hang out.

If there are any Tri. crusier riders around the Chester County area of eastern Pa. feel free to send me an e mail if you'd like to meet up and do some riding. My e mail is courtnc@nationwide.com

Thanks
Charlie

I'm a member of the Four Horsemen, just four of us, we wear a shoulder patch on our jackets, we go on a couple of weekend rides every year and usually a 10-12 day trip once a year.. not outlaws, 1%ers, or anything like that, just 4 guys that like to travel on bikes and get along really good with each other, "all for one, one for all" type of thing..
good luck with your starting a club thing, keep it simple, the fewer rules the better, we have one rule in the 4 horsemen---there are no rules, works for us!!

I'm a co-founder of The Straight to HellBoys. (A beer to anyone that can identify where the name came from) Currently we are 5 members, all close friends. Idea was to bring it back to clubs of the 50's, that were just about getting together, doing stupid things, and mostly riding. Riot thug gangs of the 60-70's are the worst thing that ever happened to the motorcycle image, and we're not about that.

Though, sometimes I think the name of the club intimidates people, but seriously if you don't get it, I don't want to talk to you about it anyways.

Good luck and a thought for you:

A club is great. The beer on the bike worries me. Believe me, I drink whenever I can, but never before getting on the bike. Even small amounts of alcohol will affect your coordination and reaction time; best to meet up after the ride and have a beer when you won't be back on the bike for a while.

I always say that the term "biker bar" makes about as much sense as "power saw bar". Alcohol and big machines just don't mix nicely. And riding is not your in-laws, i.e., it's more than tolerable even stone sober. :-D
