So, just starting the apparently endless upgrading. The stem nut clock's on (from clocks4bikes - lovely piece of kit, looks good and very functional, good service - thanks Ross) the light for the clock is in progress i.e. I've bought the parts but haven't fitted them yet. The AI kit is coming from Brent (the dealer blocked it but "didn't have any bolts", The alarm is going on when the AI's done, plus a few other bits and pieces. One question though - has any one come up with a good place to put a keyed helmet lock on the Speedy?

The helmet lock on my old Yamaha XJR (very old) was on the side of the seat very close to the back. Seemed a good place unless of course you had saddle bags installed back there. Can't imagine installing anywhere I could see it while riding.

I've thought about getting a helmet lock for my T100 but the truth is that I don't leave the bike parked in public long enough to make a lock worthwhile. I can either carry my helmet with me or feel safe enough to leave the helmet hanging from the handlebar grip.

Just my two cents.

I use a plastic coated cable bicycle lock. I run it through the open visor. I also run it through the sleeve of my jacket and lock that down also. Inexpensive, functional and versatile.

I use the plastic coated cable lock that comes with many new firearms.

:2guns:

I run it around the handlebar clamp on top of the triple tree and thence through the D rings on the helmet. The hellmet sits nicely on top of my tankbag then.

I bought one of those helmet locks from NewBonneville, I just haven't had a chance to install it. I keep finding other bike projects that are more important. I like the lock, it's definitely a quality product, and I think it's going to fit nicely about where the grabrail is attached to the dresser rail.

I'm in the process of making my own lock. I'm trying to figure out how to make it fit in the end of the handle bar. I'll post pics when I get a chance to finish it. I saw a similar lock in a J & P Cycles catalog.

Ditto with the firearm lock.

I got one when I bought a Weatherby but she goes in the safe so the lock is used on the sissy bar then through the visor.

i used the screw-on helmet lock from jcw. see link.

i attached it to the rear of the license plate bracket and had to drill
one hole in the bracket.

works great and you don't see it since it's black.

Thanks everyone for your input, I was thinking of the screw-on on the number plate bracket, so that looks like the go.

Had my pipes bored out at MEP in Brisbane today, :-D , very pleased with the resulting note.

Yup, I like the idea of using the license plate bracket also. This is the one I was considering buying, but I bet the JC Witney mentioned above is a cheaper alternative...
