Greetings everyone,
This is the first post of a long time reader of these boards, and I wanted to give a big thanks to all who take the time to share information about such wonderful motorcycles.
I picked up my tangerine / opal beauty last Friday and have logged a healthy 680miles since. I am another Southern Arizonan to curse the heat this time of year, but never the scenery and roads of such a gorgeous state. Since the pull of the bike to be riden is so strong I have got to see the sun rise more times this week then in the last two years living here. Always try to be back at the house before the real hot part of the day.
So thanks again for such a great group, will add when I can. You guys that are also from Southern Arizona drop me a note for rides or just look for me on the road to Sonoita, Kitt Peak, or any other quiet road with corners..
DH

Another Tucsonan! I've been trying to hit Mt Lemmon lately on my Speedmaster, but I'm near Silverbell and Grant so that crosstown ride to get there isn't fun. Sure is nice up there now that they've got the road done.

Hope to see you out on the road. When it's cooler, I'm riding down in Sonoita/Patagonia, and the road to Arrivaca is one of my favorites.

Congrats on the new bike Desert Hawk! Wow! You guys have some beautiful and amazing roads to ride. The pic by Sal is most extraordinary, I can feel myself flying around those curves!

They've been working on that road for something like 15-20 years. Used to be a paved goat track like the roads you see them Tour de France pedallers on in the Pyrenees. Now that the last $21 million has been spent, it's wider with bigger shoulders. Starting out at the bottom around 2,000 ft, in 30 miles it takes you up to 8,000 ft. Nice and twisty the whole way through, and much cooler at the top during the hot summer out here. It's even green with pine trees at the upper elevations.

DesertHawk,
Welcome! 680 miles in 4 days--now that's what a bike's for--riding! You'll have plenty of time later to do little mods, etc.--or maybe not--I've seen at least one bonnie with upwards of 20K miles with absolutely NO mods.
Enjoy! Wish I had some of your beautiful scenery close to home!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys,
Nice pictures SalMaglie, I do not have any nice ones to share at the moment. I have to learn how to do this someday, so here is my attempt..In case you all have not seen a picture of one today..

Four thousand edits later I did it...
No mods yet Redbird, I want to pay some of it off first. Dealer did the AI before I picked it up, that took a bit of time to get since apparently I was the first to ever ask for that..
Very happy as it stands now.
See ya around town Sal.

I'm envious of the roads in the pictures, no potholes or crumbling edges and a total lack of traffic. Do you have a problem with sports bikes on these roads. In England any roads like these have swarms of race reps taking the racing line and scaring you to death. ( I was one of them till I picked my 05 t100) Now I ride at a reasonable pace and enjoy the feel more than the speed.
Has anybody else noticed how few people nod or wave at you when your not on a sports bike?
