I may not live in Florida, but I had a serious problem with gaiters. I installed some this weekend, and I followed the instructions to a tee. However, one item that was not mentioned was the two rubber "washers" at the top and bottom of the headlight brackets. Once the fork tube is removed, there is nothing that really holds the brackets between the upper and lower yokes. If the rubber washers slip out of place...be prepared to spend 45 minutes trying to ease them back into place while re-installing the fork tubes.

That sucked and I was highly pissed off! The second gaiter was easier to manage because I new what to look for and how to (mostly) prevent the rubber washers from sliding out of place.

Good thing I'm going to my 500 miles service in about 10 days, I think every bolt on my bike is loose from all of the "mods" I've attempted.

Euro-gaiters, V-star mirrors, front fender plate.

M-bars will be here Tuesday to go with my football grips. I've also located some America handlebars, so I might give those a try.

Thanks for the heads up. How long was the total process including the extra 45 minutes?

Can pm me the steps so I can know ahead of time what to expect?

Also, was it easy to install the plate?

Thanks

Look good.
A bit of soapy water dabbed on the rubber washers will allow the tube to slip right through. Also, rotate the tube slowly as you insert it.

I just put some gold numbers and letters on my plate, it's looking better and better.

Zig,
Yeah, that part sucked. I wish someone would have warned be about that.

bosox,
It took a little over three hours total. But that was the first time I'd ever removed a wheel or a fender on a motorcycle. If I had to do it again, it would go a lot quicker. It's really not too hard.

Bill,
Experience is knowing what to do five minutes after you needed to know it the most.

Motosayle,
I like the look, but I had to do some grinding of the plate because it was meant to fit a different fender. It was also my first time with my new rotary tool.

I thought the plate was made for the T100. And you still had to do some grinding?

What did you use to prop the bike up to freely work with the front tire? Were the cables an issue?

Thanks

Nice looking bike!! You will forget about the headache of the gaitors once they are installed. By choosing NOT to install them, think of the extra time needed to replace fork seals due to hardened bugs splattered on the fork tubes. Seems like a fair tradeoff to me.

Sorry jack-ares,

Stars ain't fake. It probably has to do with the light source (big fireball known as the "sun") being above the bike. Notice how washed out the car looks and the fact that the bike's shadow is almost directly below the bike.

No posing here. You can now remove your foot from your mouth.
