Underwhelmed with Intiminators?

I know that there are a few folk on here who have expressed a little disappointment about their Intiminators. Responses have tended towards expectations being too high after reading glowing reports from others. I know I was one of those that found the Intiminators to be not all they were cracked up to be, then recently I stumböed across a thread in which it was pointed out that 5W fork oil can vary hugely in viscosity and a list of oils of a similar viscosity for the recommended Amsoil was listed.

I figured I'd give it a go, and swapped out my 5W Wilbers oil for some 2.5W Motorex Racing Fork oil and have just got back from an 80 mile test run. All I can say is it's made a very noticeable difference and I can now see what everyone else is raving about. So if you feel that after you installed your Intiminators you fell for the hype, try changing out your oil. It might make all the difference.

All the info for the various alternatives to Amsoil are to be found here:

Good point - and oil viscosity is an important consideration in all fork mods. I put in the progessives and 15 weight fork oil. What a difference! No fork dive and a much better ride. (I'm 300lbs and ride hard)

damn, haggis. i am 6'2 and weigh 180 and use 15w with my progressive springs. i tried the 5w but still was too jittery for my liking. i can only imagine what the stock springs felt like for you!

I'm surprised Haggis, looking at your avatar I'd have thought 125 lbs tops.
