Smile Best ride EVER today...

Rode about 250 meandering miles round trip from Gainesville up to the Jax area for lunch..

I'm normally a very vanilla, conservative rider. But the weather was nice, the roads were smooth and clear, I was feeling a bit glum and needed some joy- so I decided to have some fun..

Mythical "Ton" achieved for the first time (although just for a moment), and let her work in the 4-6k rpm range consistently instead of the 3-5K range I normally maintain...

An observation: When she hits 5k rpm... Hold on to your ****ing hat! There is sooo much fun tucked away in those two cylinders it's unbelievable! I'd touched that before under acceleration, but never "rode" there. OMG.

Just wound her out then babied her the last 25 miles... Nice weather, clear roads, and a HUGE smile on my face, plus ran into a guy at the gas station who was wearing a BSA shirt and we chatted for nearly an hour, going over my bike almost inch my inch.

Besides the wind picking up the last 15 minutes of my ride that nearly blew me off the road, and jacked my helmet up nearly strangling me, I've gotta say this is the most fun I've had in the last 4k miles on my Bonnie.

lunch was OK too.

Good for you, sounds like a great day.
Meanwhile here in NJ blowing up a storm,
not riding weather at all.

LOL! Mano - I was just going to say the same thing! Sounds like a great Florida ride indeed. But man, I'd not even want to drive a car in NJ today. Don't think I've ever seen such wind!

You're right.
Trees falling down all over the place.
Just talked to a guy who nearly got clobbered by one
on Rt.4 -he was in a car, not that it would have made much diff if it had hit him.

We've got the warmer weather and our own great riding posts to look forward to. Viva NJ

The sun was out in bonny Scotland today too so went for a wee jaunt with the girlfriend. Its always nice when you arrive home, sit down and smile as you think about how good this day had been. Plently more of them to come this year!!!

I wouldn't if I were you. The low road is death, which is why it's such a sad, beautiful and poignant song.

Hey Andy, Just after you posted that we lost power here in NJ, the lights, electricity everything went DEAD. We were without power for a whole day.. Think I'll stick to the high road from now on.

Enjoy the Cornish pasties.
