Cheap Mods for Bonnevilles--my list and open to suggestions

Due to the amount of PMs Ive been getting asking for my list of cheap mods Ive done to my Bonneville, here they are.

So far I have done:

DIY mirror mounts to use OEM mirrors on ends of handlebars
Got aluminum from Home Depot and cut tabs. Drilled one hole to refit the bar end cap and another for the bolt to hold stock mirrors. Got a bolt to hold mirror onto DIY mount. Got a convex mirror to attach to OEM mirror

DIY holes in chain guard
Used a spade bit at first..and then used a pyramid stepped drill bit. Got both that had a titanium nitride coating. Used lots of cutting oil to help aid in the process

painted the Triumph logo on the back of my seat yellow
used plastic paint. Many have used Elmer's Paint Pens or Sharpie Paint Pens

painted the Triumph logo on the tank badge yellow
Same as above

painted the Triumph logo on the handlebar bracket
Same as 2 above

Changed the 2 bolts on the back of my seat so I can use a flat head screw driver
Went to Bikebandit.com to find appropriate size and went to hardware store

Chopped rear fender
Using an angle grinder with a metal cutoff wheel. Other tools and methods are possible

Put $5 rear stand spools on the rear shock to use as luggage spools
Available from Harbor Freight Tools. Item #66925. Cross-referenced BikeBandit.com for bolt size hardware and went to Lowes to get appropriate hardware to mount

Put a watch on the handlebars so I can tell time.
Used pipe insulation to aid in keeping my watch around the handlebar mount tight

(about to do): Hedge's 8-ball choke knob. May also do the Her Majesty's pin on the original choke knob or get a chicken so I can "choke the chicken"

Put neodymium magnest around edge of headlight bucket
They look like chrome studs and can be used to hold down written direction to get somewhere on your gas tank.

Changed Speedo and Tach lights to Green LEDS
got them from www.superbrightleds.com . For the Tach you will need 2 of these bulbs: WLED-x5 (choose the color you want..I chose green). For the Speedo, you will need one of each of these bulbs: WLED-x5 and a 74-xHP3. (The 74-xHP3 really lights up the bottom portion of the Speedo so now you can see your odometer at night). All this is simple plug and play. The displays are much brighter and with how long LEDs last, I probably will never have to replace these.

(plan on): changing the idiot lights to LEDs
Debating bulbs to use and if I want to rewire a diode do to the turn signal's wiring

Upgraded to Napolean Bar end mirrors while retaining OEM handlebar end cap mounts Search Napolean Mirrors on WebBikeWorld and see how one guy got bike parts (rubber spacers and screws) to make mounts that will secure the Napolean Mirrors to the end cap mounts.

(Plan on doing) darkening the amber lens and plastic chrome on my turn signals and rear light by putting them in hot simmering black dye (Rit Dye) for about 20-30 minutes

(Plan on doing)--drilling holes to front sprocket cover. Just need to figure out a design

(Plan on doing)--beer cap glued to stock chock knob. Gotta find a cool beer cap design

(Plan on doing)--upgrading horn to a Wolo Bad Boy
Suggested by others:

Pull snorkel.
Polaris Bellmouth.
Uni Foam Filter.
Bafflectomy and re-jet.
Remove the AI.
Shortening/Chopping stock turn signals
Bob the front fender
replace front turn signal brackets with Thruxton ones
Bullet Brushed Turn Signals. Available Here: http://www.british-customs.com/bulle...n-signals.html
Move horn under gas tank

(Whew...out of breath)...feel free to add your mods and/or suggestions

Be careful with those earth magnets. They will pick up all kinds of things that will scratch you chrome or paint. A thin piece of plastic cut to size and placed underneath them will work if it is not attached to the magnet and you can wipe it off each time you stick it on.

I hate chrome anyways. Plus, the headlight bucket rim has a small rash from when I dropped the Bonnie.

Cheap and very effective

Put a Fast Eddy Union Jack sticker in place of the ugly legalese on the front brake reservoir lid. The sticker is made to fit that spot.

Shorten the turn signal stalks as you simmer the lenses in the pot of dye! Free and looks way, way better!
Yup, the Fast Eddy decal is cool - or simply peel off the legalese sticker. Plain black ain't bad either.
