I've seen this bike in person, it's impressive. Didn't know it had that many horsies crammed in there, but those guys are serious so I'm not surprised.

That sort of horsepower figures show how robust the basic engine design is and what good tuning by professionals can achieve.
Can't help wondering why they won't fit some sort of fairing to improve aerodynamics, after all something like a Hayabusa can beat that top speed with fewer horses, more weight and yet it's docile, reliable and driveable enough to take you to work or to the ends of the Earth.

i've HEARD that bike in person! the clutch springs are actually valve springs! they call it 'the man's clutch'. that bike is ridiculous. they had to build a special frame for that bike because the stock frame wasnt able to handle that much hp.

Whe I talked to them about it, they said they specifically left the fairings off. This thing is classified as a "Naked Bike".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_bike
Anyway, it looks like that on purpose.
Also, you'll notice the lack of brakes on this thing. When they finish a speed run, they don't really brake that much, or downshift, because of the dangers of chain breakage, and other things that can go wrong. How do they stop? They just sit up. The air friction when you're going 170mph slows you to 100 almost instantly.
I can only imagine...

There are rear brakes in the picture.
One hell of a bike. If I had the time/money/energy, I'd totally put a turbo on my Thruxton. Jojje has his streetable bonnies in the 100+hp range, running reliably... very cool stuff.

I think they should throw a fairing on there and see how fast it can go. If they can get 170+mph without a fairing, I wonder how fast they could go with one.
