EFI plastic tank cover?

i have had my bonnie 100 miles now and a knocking the crap out of my tank with my jacket

i dont mind too much looks wise - bikes are to be ridden and wear n tear is fine by me - im not into polishing etc...

however - if i leave this within 1000 miles i bet ill be through the paint which isnt too cool

seen these ugly hard tank covers for the carb model - well - ill take one [dont care what lovely floral pattern is on it or whatever

but ads say for carb model only though - whats the difference on the tank? i dont mind having to file it out a bit, move holes or something but if the actual tank is a different shape thats the plan stuffed [unles ssomeone can point me towards an efi version of the same thing

im going to turn up some 1 1/4" spacers for under the risers to lift the bar position up a little but need to protect the tank some too
cheers all

Fuel Injected models have different shaped tanks because of FI set up. FI tank is more 'bulbous' so the 68 tank covers do not fit.

Most MC shops will sell universal fit tank protectors. Ask your dealer.

I have a 4x5 strip of 3M "clear bra" tape on my tank...cheap and it works...

If you buy an OEM tank bag, the base doubles as a great tank protector (albeit, with some velcro on top - but nothing major).

Well and then there is those pesky badges....pretty hard to get a hard plastic tank shell that is secured by the badges, to be secured by the badges that are glues, not screwed, onto your tank.

Maybe one of these sixty8 tank pads is more what you need?

Or you could just get one of these and stick it on... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TRIUM...item27aee44032
