2010 bonneville T100

Hi All, After lurking around for a year I finally put a deposit down on a black and white 2010 T100. Happy Day!! I have a couple of questions...

Do I wait until after breakin to change pipes? Or should I just have the dealer do it when I pick it up? The stock pipes are way too quiet.

What pipes to get? I kinda like the Norman Hyde Peashooters.

Air box removal?

How many miles is break-in?

Thanks everyone!! this is a great site, I'm sure I'll have more questions.

It all depends on how much you value the warranty.

The dealer will fit Triumph-approved pipes like their TORS or the Arrow systems, but will probably tell you that NH peashooters might void the warranty or something.

Air box removal will also require a freer-flowing exhaust and a re-map of the engine management system to work properly. I would have thought this would also void the warranty.

600 miles will do for breaking-in.

So do most people just wait the 2 years before new pipes?

Tell them to ditch the air injectors.

I wouldn't. But then I'm too close to my dead-by date to let things like that bother me...

I find that if you manage 2 or 3 thousand miles with no significant problems, the chances are that the bike will be OK for the remainder of the warranty period. If you start getting problems early on it's a sign that you could have a Friday-afternoon bike and should be careful.

Mmmm...black and white Bonneville, now that is just class! I think you will love it.
That warranty business - I'd either ask the dealer or read carefully the warranty booklet. An exhaust is an exhaust. The airbox removal, well, might be different. Man, there must be thousands of guys who changed pipes soon after getting a new Triumph - and did not use Triumph TOR's.
Good luck with the bike!

Other Motorcycle: stay tuned
bolting on slip-on silencers in the US will NOT void your warranty unless you also decide to open up your cases and start bashing in your engine with a large mallet at the same time for fun

I have always been of the school...ride the bike for a while.

What you think you want now, may not be what you want after you have ridden it for a few thousand miles. You might even save some money.

Very wise. I have already removed/changed some of the after-market parts I originally envisaged I wanted and fitted. Wasted quite a bit of money.

That is a great point.

My green and white 2010 T100 should be arriving shortly and after reading this forum for about a year, I have decided to do very few mods. (cringe from the ultra mod squad )

I will take out the first baffle, probably not punch holes further...take the seat in for gel pad and raised about 1/2 inch, flyscreen and centerstand. That's it.

But I might just leave it completely stock.

I am not sure yet.
