Hand Guards for 2009 Bonnie?
Hi,
Looking for some hand guards for the bonnie to keep the cold wind / rain off the hands on long rides (yes, I know summer is supposed to be on its way, but this is the UK...).
Can't find anything that fits the 2009 bonnie out of the box. Searched the posts, but don't want "Hippo Hands, or to mod scrambler ones to make them fit (looked quite involved and not an ideal outcome).
Someone must have a good solution...

I know it is not handguards that you posted but I use the EXO2 electric gloves. British made and superb quality. I have ridden this past winter in -2 temperatures and my hands/fingers were toasty for the entire ride. Hook up is as simples as connecting it to the battery and then pluging them in. I don't know if you can get it any easier than that and your hands will be warm.

A couple of alternatives on this thread, with pictures:
http://www.triumphrat.net/twins-tech...rds-again.html
*The ones for the Tiger 1050, straight from Triumphs accessory catalogue, part number A9708108.
*Some from Barkbusters Model Storm S1 fit the 09 SE in minutes with no messing about.
Both for 3/4" (22 mm) bars like yours, although the Barkbusters are also available for 1" (25mm) bars.

Thanks Bonnie06Tangerine - heated gloves are an option, but prefer to avoid being wired up or worrying about recharging batteries - of course that might change if I tried a heated vest in deepest winter and get to like being warm
Forchetto - I've seen the Barkbuster Handguards Model Storm S1 for 7/8" (22 mm) hand guards, but when I did a quick measure up at work using the errr... edge of a business card to measure 18mm it looked like I didn't have enough room. Did you have to move your mirrors inward or anything? They went on no problem for you?
I might need to take another look - this time using a ruler...

No mods. The right hand one was a bit tight under the bit of bent metal that holds the brake reservoir but that's all. Here's a closer look at my handlebars, notice the shiny clamps that belong to the guards fitted next to the mirror clamps:

I use both the EXO2 heated vest and gloves and I haven't a battery problem whatsoever. I have ridden this past winter season thoroughly. My golden rule was, if the roads were clear then I rode regardless of temperature. I'm not trying to convince you not to go with guards, obviously the choice is yours to make. I just wanted to let you know that this battery problem that seems to get discussed time to time is something that I have never had to deal with at all riding the cold months.

Some of those brake reservoirs fit very close to the handlebars and maybe foul the clamp. The reservoir needs to be clear of the handlebar tube by at least 15-20 mm.

Thanks Forchetto for the pic,
I'm going to go ahead and order them.
Bonnie06Tangerine - it's just the use of batteries / wires that I want to avoid if possible.
Thanks to all for taking the time to post.

Hold on a minute...read this post of mine on another thread dealing with hand guards, I've found a little problem today...might not apply to yours though:
